This is a special invite to those who have traveled with me before. Maybe you were on my first trip to France or my 2nd to Cuba or you might have been to Cypress Hills with me!

At first my intent for this class was to teach about altered book techniques as applied to a portrait / character tribute piece. Then an amazing idea struck me! Yes! Why not teach these techniques as an opportunity to celebrate one of these trips and our journeys together?

So I am inviting my travel companions of the past for a full Sat. Feb. 9th, 2019 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. workshop in Altered Book techniques. We will cover:

  • Mixed media acrylic methods
  • How to carve and sculpt a book for 3D effects.
  • Found poetry
  • Using multiple copies of one photo to build a 3D triptych and more.
  • Collage methods

So bring your menus, memorabilia, markers, gel pens, lace, your plein air sketches and paintings on paper ( or colour copies), acrylics, and photos for a fun filled reunion. Reminiscing over our shared experiences will be half the fun. I hope you can join us. Call 1-877-335-7655 toll free to reserve your space and make a very memorable keepsake!

Class fee $100. + GST plus we will go to a restaurant nearby for lunch so bring some cash for that as well. Once your registration is recieved I will email the suggested materials list. Be creative though. All sorts of items may be helpful! Location to be announced.

The examples below are from a book called “An Old Fashioned Girl” which just so happened to be the name of the hardcover book I found at Value Village that so suited my friend Laura. In this case the book was a tribute to her as a friend.
