The City of Regina Winter / Spring 2017 Leisure Guide is out for all that’s fun in Regina, Sask. ! It is now online to view here. I will once again be instructing art classes at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre, 2420 Elphinstone Street, Regina; (306) 777-PLAY (7529). I am listing below the pages and class ID numbers to make it simpler to find the classes I teach. I hope to see you out in 2017 exploring your creative side!

Registration for Fall 2016 programs is ongoing. Winter/Spring 2017 program registration will begin at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13 for Regina residents. Non-resident registration begins Thursday, December 15 at 7 a.m.

Dates: Tuesdays, Jan. 10- Feb. 14th, 2017

Ages: 15 years to Adult  (Younger students may be allowed by special permission.)
Description: What to Do With Acrylic Mediums 1 from fall 2016 is not a requirement for this session but we will continue to explore exciting things that you can do with acrylic mediums! We will learn about making and using sculptural elements, faux encaustic, and extruded paint to expand the expressiveness of our acrylic paint tool box. You apply these methods to your choice of subject matter. No prerequisite required.

NBAC 199439: Mixed Media Watercolour Portraits (page 53 in the Leisure Guide)
Dates: Tuesdays, March 7 – April 11th, 2017
Time: 9 am – noon
Ages: 15 years to Adult (Younger students may be allowed by special permission.)
Description: Increase the expressiveness of you watercolour portraits through mixed media methods. We will explore imprinting patterns as backgrounds, and will combine watercolour with graphite pencil and oil pastels. Instruction in drawing the human head will also be included for those new to the subject.

NBAC 199440: Sketching the Dioramas at the Royal Sask. Museum  (page 54 in the Leisure Guide)
Dates: Tuesdays, April 25th – May 30th, 2017
Time: 10 am – noon
Ages: 15 years to Adult  (Younger students may be allowed by special permission.)
Description: Have you ever wanted to be able to sketch Saskatchewan wildlife but they move too much? Well we will meet weekly inside the front doors of the Royal Sask. Museum at 2445 Albert St, Regina to sketch the subjects in their beautiful dioramas. Only dry mediums are allowed.

NBAC 199527: The Cafe Sketchbook Tour (page 52 in the Leisure Guide)
Dates: Thursdays, May 25th – June 29th, 2017
Time: 1-3 pm
Ages: 15 years to Adult (Younger students may be allowed by special permission.)
Description: Learn different sketchbook techniques to capture ideas for later inspiration. We will visit different coffee houses in Regina to sketch indoors or on their outdoor patios, weather permitting. Our first stop will be the Mercury Cafe on 13th Avenue. Subsequent locations will be discussed at each class. This class I designed was the original inspiration for my painting holidays I now lead to France and Cuba.
