Bonnie McBride, looks like a picture worth painting herself as she paints July 27th, 2013 in the 8.5 acres of newly renovated Edwardian style gardens at Government House in Regina. Bonnie will be exhibiting with other students who attended my full day workshop in acrylic new methods and mediums. In this first day we covered:
- Painting on patterned material and including beading and stitching
- Wax Resist
- Extruded Paint
The class includes demonstrations of the new methods, all specialty materials, assistance in preparing for the student show to be held in the Government House 2nd floor gallery this October to December, and a picnic lunch catered by Indulgence Catering.
Sat., July 27th will be the next full day workshop held rain or shine in the gardens. Government House will be supplying us with a heavy duty tent should the weather not be as beautiful as our first workshop date. Topics to be covered that day from 10 am – 4 pm will be:
- Faux encaustic
- Making acrylic skins
- Petroleum Jelly peels
Government House, a beautiful heritage property in Regina, was the residence of our the first official Lieutenant Governor of the Northwest Territories; Amédée Forget. Built in 1981 it has been restored to the period. Through living vignettes by local actors you can glimpse into life at that time. The building and property is currently used throughout the year. Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield hosts several events, award ceremonies and visitors at Government House. You may be surprised at all the number and variety of events held there and with the beauty of the many garden rooms. Located at 4607 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK admission is free. One of my students a local Reginian was late to our first class. She thought we were meeting at the Legislative buildings in Wascana. You will want to check out these beautiful gardens and heritage property if you have not yet been. You will be surprised that you have missed it until now!
