The day after returning from Cypress Hills and my Guest Artist Residency there, I was asked to demonstrate painting in the Government House Edwardian Gardens for a Familiarization Tour. This was a tour hosted by the Regina Hotels Industry and was designed to familiarize event planners from various professional organizations from around the country what Regina has to offer it’s conference planners. I was promoted as a potential companion tour, an art class that spouses and companions of conference goers to take while their other halves attended conferences.

It was a beautiful day at the Government House Gardens. The 8.5 acres of recently renovated gardens where in full bloom and ready to inspire. The ceremonial circle greets guests to the front of Government House. Throughout the grounds several distinctly themed garden rooms provide an inviting place for artists, musicians, writers to gain inspiration. Many benches placed about the grounds under the shade of mature trees provide quiet places to meet, read, or meditate.

I am looking forward to my first “In Full Bloom” all day workshop in the gardens to be held this July 27th, 2013 from 10 am – 4 pm! The class will cover new experimental techniques and mediums available to artists working in acrylic. In this first class I will be how to work with extruded paint, petroleum peels, and how to paint on printed material with stitching and beading. If you have worked with acrylics before you likely have all the basic equipment that is needed. I will be providing the specialty mediums and materials new to you. Also included in the full day workshop is a picnic lunch prepared by Indulgence Catering. Students will also have the added bonus of showing their work in Governemnet House from Oct. – Dec. 2013. This is a busy time at the house and is sure to be a well attended show with all the other many events being held there at this time.

Sat., Aug. 24th is my next full day workshop at this same location and will also be held from 10 am – 4  pm in the Edwardian gardens. I will be covering different methods and materials at that time such as; making acrylic skins, faux encaustic, and wax resist. You can call 1-877-335-7655 toll free for more information about the classes or to register. Each class is $125. + GST. There are a few spaces left for each session and there is space available for a maximum of 12 students per session. You can register for July or August or both! I am looking forward to sharing the day with you in the gardens. Arrangements have been made in event of bad weather so the class with go on.

Here are a few images that are inspiring me that I collected this past Friday from the FAM tour. Hope you enjoy them!
