Priscillasaid:
I have admired Nikki’s artwork for many years. She has been by inspiration in the portraits I have drawn of my own daughters. I love the situational settings that she draws children, rather than usual portraits one sees. I was very excited to take a watercolour class instructed by Nikki. I learned a lot from her, and she has opened a new medium for me.
Hi Priscilla. Thanks for the comments. I got your email and will definitely check out your web site. In answer to your email question about protecting your acrylics, I would say the best is to use a good removable varnish with UV protection. Use a large soft brush and di not scrub back and forth but cover as best as you can in one pass. Working it to much during application can cause bubbles to form in the surface of the varnish causing a cloudy look. Off to see your web site!
13 of 15 spots have been reserved already for this workshop. I am overwhelmed with the enthusiastic response! Thank you to the Aurora Art Guild for hosting this workshop. I am looking forward to teaching it!
Just received word that all spots have been spoken for! It will be a full house. Looking forward to seeing all of those registered for this workshop. If you or your art guild are interested in having me come and teach any of my workshops please contact me at artist@nikkisportraits.com
Workshops I offer:
Beginner Watercolour (The basics of the medium and materials)
Watercolour 2 (Completing a few paintings together step by step.)
Outdoor Watercolour (Applying what we know to outdoor plein air painting.)
Drawing Texturally (The basics of the medium and the techniques to help you capture various textural effects.)
Drawing 2 (Completing a few images step by step together.)
Cafe Sketchbook Tour (Learning how to use your sketchbook as a tool for creativity.)
Acrylic Garden Tour (Exploring experimental techniques and mediums while deriving inspiration from local private or public gardens.)
Lino Block Printing (Some might call this stamp making. Learn the steps to create your own stamp design and then create a series of cards that you may like to swap with others in the class!)
